Clementine: Nour

Origin:
This clone has been discovered by Mr. Ahmed Nhami, in 1979, at SODEA Production Unit 1015, at Ouled Teïma. It was subject of selection and sanitation between 1980 and 1985. Carried out researches pertaining to its origin suppose that it is the result of the transfer of a normal clementine clone.

Description:
Tree: Of a robust appearance, more developed than a normal clone which is in the same conditions, of a large and springing port and thick branching. The trunk is polished with a grey colour.

Leaves: Entire, with a lanceolate shape, of a light green, bigger than those of a normal clone. Without flavour.

Flowering: Late in comparison with normal clone and the intensity is weak.

Fruits: Of an orange colour, the fruits are more or less spherical fruits, with a collar slightly protuberant and a medium size. The scar is small, the ring is apparent, the peel is rough, slightly thick, firm and is easily peeled. The pulp is juicy. The juice of an orange colour is abundant, sweet and of an agreeable flavour.

Maturity: Based on E/A report, maturity is achieved in December, when the fruit starts showing. The complete colouring is achieved at about mid January, period in which the harvesting starts and continues according to years, to mid February. The fruits remain on tree for a long time without losing their gustatory qualities, thus this clone can be considered as a late clementine without seeds.

Seeds: Almost seedless. The maximum number noticed in isolated crop is two seeds per fruit.

Production: The same as that of a normal clone, in the same crop conditions, with the particularity that it is concentrated inside the three. We can notice a slight alternation especially after a late harvesting. The fruits bear well the preservation and the transport.

Compatibility with rootstocks:
Bigaradier: Excellent compatibility

Citrange (Troyer, Carrizo): Good compatibility with appearance of bottle pebble more or less visible at the grafting point. citranges confer a certain precocity (from 12 to 15 days) as opposed to bigaradier).

Crop surface:
The same as the one for clementine groups. Yet, the lateness and the behaviour of the fruit are well noticed in the regions which are relatively dry (Souss, Haouz) where we can find more planted surface, followed by the region of Berkane.
