Clementine: Larache

Origin:
This clone has been observed in 1984 by Messrs. Nhami and Zidane, in a clementine parcel within the SODEA Production Unit 1905, in Larache.

Description:
The characteristics of this variety are closer to those of Clementine Nules with a difference at the level of the shape of fruits, which is squashed in comparison to that of the Nules especially in the coastside area.

Tree: With a stretched port, of a medium vigour, a medium branching and the trunk is polished with a grey colour.

Leaves: Entire, with a green colour, a lanceolate shape, almost without aroma.

Flowering: Axillary, cluster of a light aroma. It is a little bit late.

Fruits: Of a large size, an orange colour, the shape of fruits is more or less flattened according to the regions. The surface is little rough, the basal extremity is hollow, the farthest extremity is fairly depressed and the scar styllaire is small. The peel is firm and easy to peel. The juice of an orange colour is abundant, sweet, with a pleasant aroma.

Maturity:  It is achieved starting mid November.

Seeds: Almost without seeds in isolated cultures.

Production: The tree starts producing in a regular way in the third year after its planting.

Compatibility with rootstocks:
Bigaradier: Excellent compatibility

Citrange (Troyer, Carrizo): Good compatibility. Its rootstocks confer a certain precocity concerning the colouring of the fruits as opposed to bigaradier.

Crop surface:
The same as all those of clementine, with a better adaptation to internal regions of the country (Béni Mellal, Haouz, Ouled Berhil) as opposed to the normal clone.
